Identifying resources for international youth projects

Content

Develop ideas on essential resources for international youth work projects.

How it works:
Participants form small teams of 3–4 people. Each team receives “stocks” that invite them to provide knowledge, ideas, or recommendations on a specific issue. Teams can earn additional "resources" for valuable recommendations or insights. They exchange stocks for money and use their funds to “buy” new ones. The method is an adaptation of much more complex gamified method of "Stock Exchange".

Stocks (guiding questions):
  • What resources are absolutely essential to start an international youth project from scratch?
  • What role do partnerships and international networks play as a resource, and how can we build them?
  • How can digital tools and platforms serve as resources to make international projects work better?
  • What human resources (competences, roles, attitudes) are critical for a successful international project team?
  • How do we recognise and make use of the “hidden” or less obvious resources in our communities?
  • How can young people themselves be seen and engaged as a “key resource” in international projects?
  • What practices help us sustain resources long-term, so that a resource is available beyond a project’s funding period?
  • Share specific good practices of raising resources locally, implemented among your team members (mention the name and country of the person who shared the practice).

Learning outcomes:
  • Participants identify and categorise different types of resources needed for international youth projects.
  • They explore innovative and creative approaches to mobilising resources.
  • They practice critical thinking, teamwork, and quick decision-making in a dynamic simulation.

Competence alignment with ETS Competence Model for Youth Workers working internationally):

Activity content and badge issuing criteria aligned with the European Training Strategy (ETS) competence model for youth workers to work internationally:
Managing resources means knowing how youth projects and organisations work, and what affects them, especially when working with other countries or online. It includes understanding different leadership styles, helping young people stay motivated, keeping them safe, and making a positive difference in the community. It also means knowing about laws, data rules, and how to plan and use money and other resources, especially for online activities that need more support.
